Gokak Falls

Formed from the River Ghataprabha, Gokak Falls are a must-see falls in Belgaum. Also known by the name of Mini Niagara, it is one of the well-known tourists’ destinations in Karnataka. This waterfall is known for its resemblance to Niagara Falls in terms of the flow, width, and height. Every day, this place is visited by numerous tourists from all over Karnataka.

It Is Known For:
- Gokak Falls are known for their natural beauty
- Unlike other waterfalls, where the waters are usually white in color, this waterfall has muddy water due to the deposition on the basin of Ghataprabha river
- The muddy waters of this waterfall rush down from a great height of 580 feet at a speed that is unimaginable but sufficient to generate hydro-electricity. Thus, a power station was installed for the generation of power
- Also, the first hydro-electricity was generated here in the year 1887

Gokak Falls invite the visitors during the monsoons as it is the right time to witness their rapidity and mightiness. During other seasons, this waterfalls turns out to be a sober one.
