Maharaja Ala Singh, the founder of the Patiala dynasty, commanded the construction of this palace in 1763. This palace was a simple kuch-garhi of a mud fort until it was reconstructed using baked bricks in later years and named Qila Mubarak. This palace was once again renovated and converted into a two-storied palatial structure with beautiful arches and grand entrances. Later Maharaja Amar Singh constructed the inner palace named Qila Androon which is an even more mesmerizing structure. Apart from Qila Androon, there are Darbar Hall and Ran Bass within the walled palace of Qila Mubarak.
