History Of Bundi Palace:

Bundi is one of the ancient cities of Rajasthan, which is about 1000 year old. The city came under the rule of Rajputs in the 14th century and was remained under their control till the year 2009. The Bundi city became a flourishing place of Rajasthan as the Rajput rulers had an excellent political sense and had friendly relationship with British, Mughals and the government of India. The history of Bundi Palace has got emerged because of Rao Raja Ratan Singh, who was a well-known ruler of Bundi and tied a close bond with Mughal emperor Jahangir. The palace was constructed by Ratan Singh between 1607 A. D to 1631 A.D. The history of Bundi Palace is still phenomenal because of the Rajput kings.

The murals that are found in the art gallery have a special significance as they portray pictures of Ragmala and Raaslila- the story of Radha and Krishna. You can also explore some part of the palace which is otherwise prohibited for tourists if you can avail a special permission from the secretary of Maharaja of Bundi.

When the palace is illuminated in light during night-time, it is an awe-inspiring sight for the visitors. Various displays of the palace including the art and architecture that begins with a wooden gate are simply superb. You can see a wonderful Chinese-inspired ceiling, divided into petal shapes and decorated with peacocks and Krishnas. There is a Phool Mahal, Chhatra Mahal and Badal Mahal within the vicinity of this palace. You can also see Hathi Pol (Elephant Gate), Ratan Daulat or Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience) made with a white marble coronation throne in this palace.

The favorable time to visit Bundi is during winters, i.e. in the months of October to April. Winter days in Bundi are the most pleasant days and summer days are quite hot. While in the monsoons, Bundi receives average to heavy rainfall.
