The Kodandarama Temple is located in the Hiremagalur area of Chikmagalur. This Hindu shrine is dedicated to the Kodandarama deity. The word Kodanda means the bow of Lord Rama and a sculpture of Lord Rama holding his bow in his hand is the main idol housed inside the sanctum of this temple. Along with Lord Rama, his wife Goddess Sita and the younger brother of Lord Rama, Lakshmana are also worshipped inside the temple. According to the popular legends, the sage Parashurama requested Lord Rama to show his wedding scene at this site, who, in turn, appeared with Sita and Lakshamana here. A 1.5-feet high Hanuman pedestal is also seen inside the temple’s garbhagarha. There are several other small shrines containing idols of Sugriva, Yoganarasimha, Kalinga, Mardhana, Ramanujacharya, Madhvacharya, and Vedanta Desika. In fact, Garuda, Ganapati, and Hanuman are also worshiped inside the temple along with Lord Rama in his Kodandarama avatar.

2) The idols of other deities like Yoganarasimha, Kalinga, Mardhana, Ramanujacharya etc., inside the shines are also worshipped inside.
3) The legends that have been associated with the appearance of Lord Rama with Sita and Lakshmana on his sides on the request of sage Parashurama.
Best Time To Visit:-
While this ancient temple is flocked by devotees all year round, the best time for devotees to visit this temple is in the months of February and March. During these two months, a fair is held inside the temple and the entire vicinity is decked up with flowers and lights.
