The Mullayanagiri peak is perched at an altitude of 1930 meters above the sea level and is the highest peak in the Western Ghats in Karnataka. It is located within the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka and offers an amazing site for a peaceful escape from the busy city life. Atop the hill is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is visited by a number of devotees all year round. Moreover, Mullayanagiri is a trekker’s heaven and any adventure seeker can take up this uphill trek to reach the highest point in Karnataka. It is a 4km long trek which takes around 1.5-2 hours to reach the top. The small caves, narrow streams, and the Nandi statue are some of the landmarks that you can see while trekking to the top. Mountain biking and road biking are other adventure activities that one can engage to get the adrenaline rush. On a clear day, the entire range of Western Ghats is visible in its full-fledged magnificence from the top of the peak.

The best time to visit the Mullayanagiri hills for a peaceful escape or an adventurous expedition is during the early winter season. But people can take a trek through the beautiful trails of this hill anytime during the months of September to March.
Reaching There:-
The Mullayanagiri hills are located at a distance of 12kms from Chikmagalur and 23kms from Budangiri. You can reach the starting point of this hill named Sarpadhari can be reached by taking a private cab or local transport like a bus. From there you can start the uphill trek to reach the peak of this hill.
