Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall

Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall is an ancient tourist-cum-historical site in Nalanda. This place was constructed in the memory of the Chinese traveler-scholar, Hiuen Tsang. He visited Nalanda for studying Buddhism. He stayed for 12 years and gathered a lot of knowledge related to Buddhism during the rule of the Gupta Dynasty.

Why Is It Famous?
1) Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall is famous due to its serene surroundings. The atmosphere was a major factor that attracted Hiuen Tsang towards Nalanda.
2) During his stay in Nalanda, he learned many things about Buddhism from Shilabhadra.
3) The collection of Hiuen Tsang’s work is displayed in the memorial hall that bears his name.
4) The items collected by him are also exhibited in the special section dedicated to him. It displays the sandalwood and golden idols of Buddha and his compositions containing the information about Buddhism in China & India.

Best Time To Visit:-
Though Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall welcomes its visitors throughout the year, October-March is considered as the best time for visiting the site. People can witness the compositions of Hiuen Tsang that are ages old. Many Buddhist monks often visit and gather in the hall for daily meditations.
