Chaturbhuj Temple is a well-known Hindu temple in Orchha district of Madhya Pradesh. It is a shrine that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built in the 16th century by the Bundela dynasty. It is an architectural marvel of the then times and never fails to impress the visitors. It also has an interesting tale behind it. According to the tale, Madhukar Shah’s wife went to Ayodhya and brought an idol of Lord Rama. She decided to keep it in her palace till the completion of the shrine. After the completion, the idol of Lord Rama couldn’t be moved and thus, his temple was made within the room itself.

1) Chaturbhuj Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
2) His life-sized idol is placed in the sanctum. It is embellished exquisitely and catches the sight immediately.
3) It is erected in the Bundela style of architecture and has a height of 344 feet. Its layout resembles the style of a Basilica.
4) The exterior walls of the temple carry the serpentine carvings that enhance the appearance of the temple.
5) As far as the tale of Lord Ram’s idol is concerned, the palace was transformed into a temple of Shri Ram and is known as the only place in India where Lord Ram is worshiped as a king.
