Operating Hours

• General Ashram Hours: Typically open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM for visitors.

• Reception/Check-in: The reception office is usually open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

• Daily Schedule:

  • 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM: Morning Prayers (Prathana)

  • 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM: Morning Yoga Class

  • 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM: Meditation

  • Sunset (approx. 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM): The world-famous Ganga Aarti, which is the highlight of the day.

Who Can Visit?

The ashram is open to everyone, regardless of race, gender, nationality, religion, or caste. However, those wishing to stay overnight are expected to be true pilgrims who are there to engage in sadhana (spiritual practice), meditation, and seva (selfless service).

• Accommodation: While the ashram is not a commercial hotel, it provides rooms for pilgrims. Suggested donations for rooms generally range from ₹500 to ₹2,000 per day, depending on the room type (standard vs. air-conditioned). These contributions support the ashram’s charitable works.

Best Time to Visit

• Peak Season: Early October to March is ideal. The weather is cool and pleasant, making it comfortable for outdoor meditation and yoga.

• Special Event: The first week of March is particularly significant as the ashram hosts the International Yoga Festival.

• Avoid: The monsoon season (July to September) can bring heavy rains and travel disruptions.

How to Reach

• By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun), about 35 km away. From there, you can take a taxi to Rishikesh.

• By Train: The Rishikesh Railway Station is about 5-6 km away.

• Local Access:

  • By Foot: You can walk across the iconic Ram Jhula suspension bridge and walk about 1 km to reach the ashram.

  • By Boat: Local boats ferry people across the Ganga from the main town to the Swargashram side (except during monsoon).

  • By Road: You can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw directly to the ashram via the Veerbhadra Road route.

Important Guidelines

• Dress Code: Visitors must dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) to respect the sanctity of the space.

• Dietary Restrictions: Smoking, alcohol, drugs, and non-vegetarian food (including eggs) are strictly prohibited on the premises.

• Conduct: Silence and discipline are encouraged, especially in meditation halls and during prayers.
