Kumbakkarai Falls

Untouched from the modern touch, Kumbakkarai Falls is an enchanting waterfall in Dindigul, Kodaikanal. This waterfall is a less explored destination. In the previous times, it was just an ordinary waterfall surrounded by woods. In the British India, a rich business man acquired the legal permission from the British government and utilized his own funds for constructing the nearby area. He built dressing rooms and small food joints that transformed this ordinary place to a tourist attraction. Presently, it is visited by the tourists on a large scale.

1) Kumbakkarai Falls originate from the enchanting hills of Kodaikanal and is the contributing source of Pambar River
2) The waters of this fall descend from the different tiers that are named after the wild animals like the elephant, tiger, jaguar etc.
3) Due to the construction of the food joints and changing rooms, it has emerged as a famous tourists attraction in Dindigul
4) This place also houses an idol of Lord Murugan. It is carved out of the black marble and is worshiped by the visitors

Kumbakkarai Falls is located in an undisturbed location and is surrounded by the lush green vegetation. It can be reached via short trek after de-boarding the bus or taxi at the village of Periyarakulam.
