History: 

 

Situated just below the Moti Dungri fort in Jaipur, this Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddesses Laxmi. Built by India’s one of the most renowned business families, B.M Birla foundation in 1988, this famous temple is part of one of the several Birla mandirs located all around India. It is said that the temple was constructed on the land given to the Birla family by the Maharajas for a token amount of one rupee.

 

Architecture:

 

Unlike other Hindu temples in India, Birla mandir, Jaipur is built with a contemporary approach. Constructed with pure white marble, Birla temple has three domes representing the three main religions of India. The interiors of Birla temple is adorned with beautiful carvings of famous quotes from the Geeta and the Upanishads along with religious Hindu symbols. The walls of the temple are engraved with mythological events and paintings. The most significant part of the shrine is the spectacular statue of Lakshmi Narayan, carved out from a single piece of stone. Apart from sculptures and statues of various deities, Birla mandir also houses many pictures and figures of several saints, historical achievers and philosopher around the globe. Surrounded by a beautiful garden and lush green trees, this beautifully constructed temple is undoubtedly a great piece of art.

 

Best time to visit

 

Jaipur experiences high temperature during the summer season. The average maximum temperature is 40°C during May and June. To enjoy a pleasant trip to the city, plan a trip between October and March when the temperature is around 20-22 degrees.
