One of the must-see places there is Mattupetti Dam. Mattupetti Dam is a storage concrete dam. It was constructed between 1949-1953 for the purpose of conserving the water and generating hydroelectricity. Presently, it lures tourists on an extensive scale.

Being a popular attraction in Munnar, Mattupetti Dam is flocked by hundreds of tourists throughout the year. The peak season begins in late July and lasts till October. This dam can also be visited during the monsoons, though navigation is prohibited during that time.

Munnar has a wider network of railways and roadways. Thus, you can reach Mattupetti Dam either by bus or by hiring a cab. After reaching the town of Mattupetti, you can reach the dam by walking a short distance.
