Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra

The Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra and see an exquisite blend of Indo-Islamic architecture. This celebrated mosque located in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Arhai-din-ka-Jhonpra in English means Two-And-A-Half-Day Shelter. The Adai-din ka Jhonpra is the ultimate example of the destruction of a Hindu or Jain temple to construct a mosque.Built in 1198 A.D by invader Mohammed Ghori. Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra was skillfully designed over an already existing edifice that housed an ancient center of Sanskrit learning. Several pillars and structures located within the Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra were picked up from devasted Hindu and Jain temples.

The front façade consists of a number of small arches built of yellow limestone. The main arch is flanked by six smaller arches of Arab origin wherein tiny rectangular panels allowed for a lighting system, a feature found in ancient Arabian mosques. The 124 pillars that support the entire structure are unique in the way that no two pillars are the same. In spite of the diversity, the arches and pillars have been integrated perfectly to create one whole architectural masterpiece..
