Arunachal Pradesh finds place in ancient Hindu scriptures. Legend says that Parasuram was cleansed of his sins here. The green hills and fresh water streams of Arunachal Pradesh speak of nature's bounty. It has variety of flora and fauna.
The forests abound in orchids which are in high demand world over.
Places of Interest in Arunachal Pradesh ---
Tawang : - Tawang is one of the most beautiful hill-stations in North-East India. It is situated in the West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang is the stronghold of the Monpa tribe. Apart from them, some Tibetan people have also sought refuge in the area.
Tawang is most famous for the monastery Galden Namgyel Lhats, a holy place for the Mahayana sect of Buddhism. It is an important part of the religious, social and cultural life of the Monpas. 'Losar' and 'Torgya' are two main festivals
of the Monpas. They are celebrated in the monastery.
There are beautiful lakes in Tawang. Only 17 km from Tawang, there is the lake called Pankang-Teng-Tso. Teh lakes of Sangetser and Banggachang are equally beautiful. April to October is the best season to visit Tawang. This is because, in
winters all the lakes are covered with deep snow.
Bomdila : - Situated at 8500 feet, Bomdila is home to the tribes like Monpa, Sherdukpen, Aka (Hrusse), Miji and Begun (Khawas). It is known for its scenic beauty and breathtaking landscape.
Parasuramkund : - 21 km north-east of Tezu is situated lies Parasuramkund, the place where Parasuram was cleansed of his sins. According to a legend recorded in the Kalika Puran, Parasuram washed away the sin of killing his mother in the waters of Brahma kund. This is a holy place for the Hindus.
Roing : - The place is known for the historical fort of Bhismakanagar. This was built with clay bricks. Excavated in 1996-97, the fort is a testimony to the penetration of the Aryan culture into Arunachal in the 4th century A.D.
Namdapha : - Namdapha National Park is a nature lover's delight. It is the only park in the world which ranges altitudes of 200 to 4500 metres. The only forest zone in India where four of the cat felines, that is, the tiger, the eopard,
the snow leopard and the clouded leopard are found.
