Mizoram is, out and out, hilly. Such hilly terrain full of steep hills is hardly seen in any other part of the country. All roads in Mizoram are zig-zags. The state is home to Mizos, Hmars, Reangs. But, Mizos are the dominant tribe in the hill state. Mizoram is a mountainous region which became the 23rd State of the Indian Union. in February, 1987. The capital city is Aizawl. Mizoram is rich in floral and faunal resource.

Places of Interest in Mizoram --- Aizawl : - The capital of Mizoram. A city situated in such a steep hilly terrain is itself a unique thing to be seen. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the area. As such, inspite of the high altitude, Aizawl stays warm.

Tamdil : - Tamdil is a natural lake and is an 85 km drive from Aizawl. It is reputed for its fish and prawns. The resort village of Saituai is just 10 km away.

Vantawang : - Surrounded by a vast stretch of thick bamboo forests close to Thenzawl hill station is Mizoram's highest waterfall Vantawang (750 ft). It is situated 152 km from Aizawl.

Phawngpui : - Situated 300 km from Aizawl, close to Myanmar border, lies Phawngpui, the highest peak of Mizoram.

Saiha : - Saiha is an angler's paradise situated on Chhimtuipui, Mizoram's biggest river. It is 378 km from Aizawl. Phawngpui (Blue Mountain) is only 30 kms away from Saiha.
